CECH IMPRESSED BY OSCAR

The goalkeeper of Chelsea, Petr Cech, has praised the new signing of the club Oscar who was the stand out performer for Chelsea against Juventus in the Champions League match played on 19th of September. Oscar scored two goals for Chelsea in that match, but, his efforts didn’t take Chelsea to victory. Juventus managed to level the scores in the second half and the match ended in a draw. Oscar was named as the man of the match for his brilliant performance.

Oscar has joined Chelsea this summer. Chelsea paid a huge transfer fee of 25 million pounds for buying Oscar from Internacional. Oscar played his first match for Chelsea against Wigan Athletic on 19th of August. That was Chelsea’s opening match of the season. Oscar substituted Eden Hazard in the 64th minute of the match.

When asked about Oscar, Cech said, “He is certainly a very good buy for us. Some people were surprised when the manager paid such a big amount for buying this youngster, but, now, he is showing the world that why Roberto De Matteo rates him so highly.”

“The club has massive expectations from him and the way he played against Juventus was amazing. That was his first start for the club and it was a high pressure game as well. But, he remained calm and put us on the driving seat. But, he was unlucky not to have ended on the winning side.”

Chelsea had won the Champions League in the last season, but, the team didn’t manage to start the competition on a winning note this time around. When asked about that, Cech said, “It’s a long tournament. We still have to play a lot of games in the competition. It was not an ideal start, but, a decent one for sure. We will definitely play better in the next matches.

CHELSEA GETTING STRONGER

The Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that the club are making significant changes to the first-team by adding players who are hungry and looking to achieve big in the game. The Czech Republic goalkeeper has said that the situation at the club is very much similar to the one he experienced when he initially arrived at the club back in 2004. The 30-year-old was a £ 7 million signing from the French club Rennes back then. He has said that he can see a lot of similarities to the players Chelsea sign in now. Players like Eden Hazard and Oscar have arrived at the club for a total of play of £ 60 million.

Even though this is pale in comparison with the spending Chelsea had back in 2004 and 2005, they have certainly had a lot of quality. The club has so far brought in six attacking players, while the age of a squad has also been brought down significantly following the departures of players like Didier Drogba and José Bosingwa. Further departures are expected after the manager Roberto di Matteo revealed that the size of the squad is a little too big. Players like Florent Malouda and Michael Essien are expected to leave before the end of the transfer window.

“We still have experienced players, and we have the young, new, positive, hungry, motivated players who are great to have in. And they are here to show that they are not just here by ‘Hazard’ – by accident!. But it’s true that they want to show that they are quality players, that’s why Chelsea brought them in, and want them to be a part of this team. So far everyone is enjoying the moment of being European champions,” said the Chelsea goalkeeper. Chelsea have also signed the 20-year-old goalkeeper Thibault Courtois for £ 9 million.

CECH BLOWN AWAY BY RONALDO

Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that he is extremely blown away by the talent within the 27-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Czech Republic took on Portugal in the quarter-finals of the Euro 2012 looking to book a place in the semifinals of the competition just as they did back in the 2004 edition. However, they were unable to get past Portugal after they lost the match 1-0. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his third goal of the tournament with a bullet header about 10 min from the end of normal time. Prior to that, Ronaldo had numerous chances to open the scoring for Portugal, but was extremely unlucky after he struck the post twice.

Even if the attempt was on target, the Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech was immense in front of goal. However, he was finally beaten with a bullet header with only few minutes remaining on the clock. This helped Portugal reached the semifinals of the competition where they are likely to face Spain or France. Following the match, Petr Cech praised Ronaldo by saying that he is definitely one of the best players in the world. The 27-year-old attacker has scored more than 50 goals for both club and country this season.

“This is a not a good feeling for us tonight. We lost, they were better and deserved to win. Ronaldo is one of the two best players in the world, and he proved it with that header. He is truly hard to stop,” said Petr Cech after the match. This is certainly not the first time Petr Cech has come up against Cristiano Ronaldo. The two players have met each other on numerous occasions in the past when Cristiano Ronaldo played for Premier league club Manchester United. Petr Cech is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

It could be the decisive factor but they and we have everything to play for. It will be an exciting game but our experience will help. We want to go to Munich and have the sense that the job is done and we can then easily concentrate only on the final,” Cech told reporters ahead of the Newcastle game.

CECH BELIEVES IN CHELSEA

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that he is very much looking forward to winning the Champions League with Chelsea this season.

After a lot of troubles earlier in the campaign, Chelsea have regained their composure and hit a good run of form just at the right time. They have just progressed into the semifinals of the Champions League after beating Benfica 3-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals. They have been drawn against Barcelona, who are the firm favourites to win the Champions League this season, in the semifinals, which will take place in the middle and last weeks of April.

Cech played in the Champions League final of 2008 with Chelsea, but ended up losing side after Manchester United won the trophy on penalties. Now, the goalkeeper wants to go better than being the runner-up by finishing as the winner in this year’s competition final, which will be held in the Allianz arena – the home of Bayern Munich. Many have written off the chances of Chelsea beating Barcelona in the semifinals, as Barcelona showed there is no signs of slowing down. “You dream that you win the Champions League once in your life. We just progressed through to the next round and still have a chance to fight for the trophy. Now we are facing the world’s best football club but it was almost a certainty that if we got far we would probably play against them. You cannot look to the left or to the right at this stage,” Cech said in his biography column on his personal website. Chelsea will be facing Wigan during the weekend.

CECH READY TO PLAY

The recent performance of Chelsea has been quite disturbing and has put all the members to shame. They have lost most of their respect from the fans since their terrible defeat to Napoli.

The match which ended in a 3-1 loss was quite a sad piece of news for the entire team and since then there has been a number of allegations thrown forth at the Chelsea boss Andre Villas Boas about his inability to manage the team and make them perform.

However, this has been shunned away by the Chelsea goal keeper Petr Cech as well as some of the other eminent players who go on to support Andre Villas Boas and make sure to mention that Andre should not be blamed entirely for each individual player’s mistakes. Petr Cech supports Andre whole heartedly and says that he has put it a lot of effort to ensure that each of the players are coached well and are mentally and physically fit for the game.

However, at times, there might be certain issues which rise out of the blue which might not have been anticipated by anyone. The game did have a lot of attacks and counter attacks and it was a fun game to watch, but the opponent team was quite strong in their attack and did not spare any loose or vacant end in the defense. It was a game where each player had to be on their toes in alert position throughout to prevent any form of entry through the defense line.

Petr Cech hopes that Chelsea manages to improve t=in the future matches and build up their name again and manage to get their fans back to rejoicing for their team rather than sulking around at their loss.
