CHELSEA GETTING STRONGER

The Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that the club are making significant changes to the first-team by adding players who are hungry and looking to achieve big in the game. The Czech Republic goalkeeper has said that the situation at the club is very much similar to the one he experienced when he initially arrived at the club back in 2004. The 30-year-old was a £ 7 million signing from the French club Rennes back then. He has said that he can see a lot of similarities to the players Chelsea sign in now. Players like Eden Hazard and Oscar have arrived at the club for a total of play of £ 60 million.

Even though this is pale in comparison with the spending Chelsea had back in 2004 and 2005, they have certainly had a lot of quality. The club has so far brought in six attacking players, while the age of a squad has also been brought down significantly following the departures of players like Didier Drogba and José Bosingwa. Further departures are expected after the manager Roberto di Matteo revealed that the size of the squad is a little too big. Players like Florent Malouda and Michael Essien are expected to leave before the end of the transfer window.

“We still have experienced players, and we have the young, new, positive, hungry, motivated players who are great to have in. And they are here to show that they are not just here by ‘Hazard’ – by accident!. But it’s true that they want to show that they are quality players, that’s why Chelsea brought them in, and want them to be a part of this team. So far everyone is enjoying the moment of being European champions,” said the Chelsea goalkeeper. Chelsea have also signed the 20-year-old goalkeeper Thibault Courtois for £ 9 million.
